But where to site a shop... that's the question!
This is one of the biggest challenges, and there are a number of factors to consider. Firstly, much of Almondsbury is classed a "Conservation Area" - this limits any development likely to be permitted. Secondly, not all of the village is within a "Development Area" - a project like a retail development outside this area is also not likely to be permitted. So the site ideally needs to be outside the Conservation Area, but within the Development Area.
Even when a suitable site is identified, people living near to the proposed site are likely to have irrational concerns - about noise, traffic, disruption, unruly behavior, and possibly others - concenrs which are often a "knee-jerk" reaction to change, and which will prove not to be as great as is feared.
