Astrid is cycling around the world for two years from May 2008. Astrid is doing this for three important reasons:
1. To raise money for, and awareness of, The Leprosy Mission
2. To raise money for, and awareness of, the Deaf Studies Trust - for whom she has worked, and
3. To prove that you don't have to be a teenager to have reckless ambitions - you can still do that after your 50th birthday!

Formed in 1969 as Patchway North End, they changed to Patchway Old Boys in 1971and played in the Bristol Suburban League. In 1989 Almondsbury moved to its present home 'The Field' and became Almondsbury FC. In 2000-2001 Almondsbury won the Bristol Suburban League and gained promotion to the Gloucestershire County League. In 2004, they were crowned Champions of the Gloustershire County league and gained promotion to the Western Football League. For the 2006-07 season, they are members of the Western Football League Division One

Almondsbury Town are currently members of the Hellenic League Premier Division. The chairman of the club is Bob Jenkins and the current manager is Paul Weeks who joined the club in December 2005 from Bitton. Almondsbury Town currently play their home matches at Oaklands Park, Almondsbury situated just off the M5 motorway. The club play in navy blue and sky blue shirts, with navy blue shorts and socks
